Safety Students Complete Confined-Space Training

20140405_100051The Department of Occupational Safety & Health recently sponsored a 10-hour OSHA Confined space weekend class with almost 50 participants.  The Friday and Saturday class focused on confined space rescue of employees in hazardous situations and was taught by Mr. Larry Gates of Dallas, TX.  Mr. Gates is also the American Society of Safety Engineers university liaison from the Southwest Chapter (Dallas and surrounding areas).  The Occupational Safety department also sponsors OSHA 30-hour courses in General Industry and Construction respectively.  The courses, combined with their undergraduate or graduate occupational safety degrees from the university, give the SE safety students a marked job placement advantage.
