Certification as a Distance Education Instructor

In order to teach internet based classes at Southeastern, you must be certified as a distance education instructor.

Certification as a distance education instructor is based on:

  1. Evidence of experience using Blackboard OR completion of the Blackboard tutorials in the certification course, AND
  2. Successful completion of Southeastern’s certification course, “Training Modules for Teaching Internet Courses”.

The enrollment process is as follows:

  1. Contact your Department Chair when you are ready to begin the course. The Department Chair will complete the Request for Distance Education Certification form, available under Faculty Resources on the Distance Education website, and forward it to CIDT.
  2. CIDT will send you an email when you have been added to the course roster. You will also be assigned a faculty mentor to answer questions you might have as you work through the course.

Additional Information:

  1. The certification course is housed on the Southeastern Blackboard site.
