The Southeastern Symphonic Choir is the largest vocal group on campus. Comprised of all the vocal music majors, as well as non-majors, staff, and members of the community, this ensemble is designed to present major, concerted works each semester. These performances have included masterworks of Handel, Respighi, Rutter, Mozart, and J.S. Bach. The Symphonic Choir also collaborated regularly with the Sherman Symphony Orchestra.
The Symphonic Choir meets on Monday nights at 6 PM to accommodate singers who work off campus. The 2014 Candlelighting will be held on Dec. 8th. The program features Part One of Handel’s Messiah, with orchestral accompaniment and faculty soloists. This justly famous work will be preceded by seasonal carols from Alfred Burt and Abbie Betinis, as well as a haunting Renaissance motet by Salomone Rossi. SE brass and percussion students will join for the audience singalong, and the SHARE children’s choir (Dr. Jeri Walker, director) will be special guests.
Anyone interested in joining the Symphonic Choir should contact Dr. Joshua Nannestad for further information: firstname.lastname@example.org or (580) 745-3348
