Dr. Michael Scheuerman was recently appointed as the Instructor of Clarinet at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. In addition to this position, he is the Head Clarinet Instructor for the Coppell Independent School District. At Coppell he maintains a studio of approximately 50 middle school and high school clarinetists. Before moving to the DFW area, Michael received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Texas Tech University. At Texas Tech he taught undergraduate clarinet lessons and performed in the Texas Tech Graduate Wind Quintet. While in Lubbock, he performed regularly with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra and gave educational concerts and recitals with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra Wind Quintet. Throughout his tenure at Texas Tech University, he served as the principal clarinetist of the Texas Tech Symphonic Wind Ensemble, with which he performed at the Texas Music Educators Association conference and a College Band Directors National Association conference. As the winner of the university’s concerto competition, Michael performed Aaron Copland’s Clarinet Concerto with the Texas Tech Symphony. Currently, he is a member of the Lone Star Wind Orchestra and regularly performs recitals with the Dolce Chamber Players. Michael also holds degrees in performance and music education from Eastern Michigan University (M.A.) and Oklahoma State University (B.M.).
