About Dr. Mary Ann Craige
Mary Ann Craige, Professor of Music, has taught Applied and Class Piano at Southeastern Oklahoma State University since 1966. She holds a B.M. degree in piano performance from Oklahoma Baptist University and an M.M. in Piano Performance from University of North Texas. She earned a Ph.D. in College Teaching from University of North Texas, where her dissertation addressed Sight-Reading at the piano for the university level. She also earned a Music Education degree from OBU as well as a Music Theory degree from UNT. Presently, Dr. Craige is coordinator of the SOSU keyboard area, teaching private and class piano as well as accompanying various ensembles. Dr. Craige is active as a collaborative pianist, lecturer, and adjudicator. She serves as organist at First Baptist Church, Durant, OK. She has traveled and performed extensively in the USA as well as Europe and Australia/New Zealand. Previously she taught 3 years as a graduate assistant at UNT. Dr. Craige currently serves as State Composition Competition Coordinator for the Music Teachers National Association. She previously served as Co-President of the East District of Oklahoma Music Teachers Association. Piano training included studies under artist teachers Jacque Abrams, Sylvia Zaremba, Jack Roberts, Richard Cass, and Steve Harloss.
