Dr. Benjamin Shaffer

Dr. Benjamin Shaffer currently is Adjunct Instructor of Music at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, OK and Adjunct Instructor of Music at North Central Texas College in Corinth, TX.  Dr. Shaffer maintains an active trumpet studio in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area as well as performing with various ensembles throughout the metroplex.  Previously, he taught as a Teaching Fellow at the University of North Texas (Brass Methods) and as a Teaching Assistant at Ohio University (Trumpet, Trumpet Ensemble, Trumpet Methods). 

Dr. Shaffer holds degrees from the University of North Texas – D.M.A. (Trumpet Performance), Ohio University – M.M. (Trumpet Performance), and Indiana University of Pennsylvania – B.S. (Music Education).   His teachers include Keith Johnson, John Holt, John Schlabach, Ernie Bastin, and Kevin Eisensmith

Dr. Shaffer has appeared with the UNT Wind Symphony, UNT Chamber Orchestra, Lone Star Wind Orchestra, and the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra.  He has performed at numerous national conventions including the National Trumpet Competition, International Trumpet Guild conference, Texas Music Educators Association convention, Ohio Music Educators Association convention, and the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association convention.  He is also a member of the Keystone Wind Ensemble and can be found on numerous GIA and Klavier labels.
