Student Work Certification / Hiring Process

Beginning with the Fall 2010 semester the following changes will take place regarding hiring students for Work Study 113 (Federal Funded) and Regular Work 213 (SE Funded):

Departments will begin the Work Certification process when a student has been selected for employment. The Work Certification form will be accessed and printed from the Human Resources website.

  • Step One: Department supervisor completes Student ID, Student Full Name (as it appears on Social Security card), fiscal year of employment, and
check CampusConnect to see if student qualifies for Work Study 113. (Student may access CampusConnect during the hiring process
OR ask the student to print his/her Financial Aid verification from CampusConnect and bring to interview.)
  • Step Two: If Work Study 113 and the department has a Work Study 113 budget , send student to Financial Aid to complete box for Work Study 113. Once Financial Aid completes the box, the student will be sent back to the department to complete the form – Account #, Department Name, work status and signature. Send student to Human Resources to complete the payroll enrollment.
  • Step two: If Regular Work 213 and the department has a Regular Work 213 budget, complete box for Regular Work 213 and remainder of form – Account #, Department Name, work status, Student Position Job Duties, and signature. Send student to Human Resources to complete the payroll enrollment. Note: Financial Aid will no longer maintain information on Regular 213 work. The department will determine what amount to assign to the student and by semester.
  • REMINDER: ALL NEW EMPLOYEES MUST COMPLETE PAYROLL SIGN UP ON OR BEFORE FIRST DAY WORKED PER FEDERAL REGULATIONS.

Questions about Work Study 113 should be directed to Financial Aid and questions about Regular Work 213 should be directed to Human Resources.
