Department of Art, Communication, and Theatre Facilities Manager / Technical Theatre Director/Instructor or Assistant Professor

Southeastern Oklahoma State University invites applications for the position of Facilities Manager / Technical Theatre Director in the Department of Art, Communication, and Theatre. The position includes teaching; technical and design duties with the Theatre at Southeastern production season; and oversight of the university performance venues through the Office of Facility Management.

The Facility Manager supervises and executes the building, set-ups, running and strikes of all facilities events in the Visual and Performing Arts Center, and Montgomery Auditorium.  As Technical Director the position supervises and executes the building, engineering, and pricing of Theatre at Southeastern productions while providing hands-on training in various aspects of technical theatre including rigging, woodworking, shop safety, and other areas of stagecraft.  This position will include work on nights and weekends outside the traditional class time and workday.  The position must be able to climb ladders, use stairs, lift weight, and stand.  The position will supervise students and staff on crew calls for Theatre at Southeastern and Office of Facility Management events and productions, and teach 1-2 courses each semester based on departmental need and experience.

Qualifications for consideration as instructor include a masters in theatre, theatre design or related field; advanced knowledge of stage carpentry; organization of human, financial, facility and material resources; and experience in theatrical design, lighting design, sound operation, facilities operations, and customer service.  Preference and consideration as Assistant Professor on tenure tack may be given to candidates who possess a terminal degree in theatre, theatre design or related field; college teaching experience; professional design credits; and experience in one or more of the following: welding, advanced theatrical painting techniques, digital lighting and design expertise and a demonstrated dedication to interdisciplinary teaching and work in a varied academic/artistic environment.
