Long Term Disability
Regular full time employees with 75% FTE or more (adjunct faculty ineligible) are eligible, after 6 months of employment, for university paid Long Term Disability coverage.
If an eligible employee is determined to be disabled, benefits will commence after six months of continuous disability. The Monthly Income Benefit replaces 60% of your monthly wage base up to a maximum of $8,000 per month before offsets. The minimum Standard benefit payment is the greater of $100 or 10% of the Monthly Income Benefit before offsets. You have two options (A or B, see below*) from which to choose, depending on when and how long you would receive benefits. Monthly annuity premium benefit contributes to The Standard retirement annuity while disabled equal to 6 and 2/3 percent monthly wage benefit. (Offsets are social security disability, OTR disability, etc.)
*Option A: University pays premium; 6 month waiting period for benefits to commence.
*Option B: Buy Down – Employee pays premium based on salary; 3 month waiting period for benefits to commence.
